Katrina Disaster Relief
November 16th, 2006 11:25 amTomorrow night I’m leaving on a bus with 50-some other people from Green Bay, WI and the surrounding area. We’re all going down to New Orleans to aid in the ongoing rebuilding effort following hurricane Katrina.
We will be on the bus for 22 hours! I will have my mp3 player (though the battery probably won’t last half the trip) and I just picked up a new book which I’ve added to my “currently reading” list called “Augustus: The Life of Rome’s First Emperor”. I read the intro and the first 10 pages or so, and it looks to be very interesting. I’m still not finished with Galatians, but I’ll be taking that along too and hopefully finish it up within the first couple hours.
I’m excited about the trip. My dad and brother went down last year and talked me and my sister into going with them this year. We’ll be down there for one whole week. I’m taking my camera to try to document the work going on, and if I have access to a computer I will try to update my blog. We will be rebuilding Lutheran churches, schools, and member homes.
This is where we’ll be staying.
Pray for me and everyone else. Special thanks to the members and organizations of St. John’s Lutheran in Port Washington, WI who helped pay my way for this trip.
EDIT: In addition to the posts I may be making to the blog (if I have access to a computer) I will be keeping a journal of the trip and will post it (complete with pictures) when I return.

"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."
